Transition Management

Purpose: To reduce the disruption and lowered productivity caused by a change in management and to get the new manager off to a positive and productive start.

Time, energy and productivity are increasing wasted following the announcement of a manager's upcoming departure. Studies have shown there to be reverse bell curve of productivity lasting approximately six months between the departure announcement and the new manager's getting up to speed. This can be minimized with a conscious effort that acknowledges this dynamic and focuses on addressing the causal issues directly, honestly and quickly. Information is to the organization what blood is to the human system. It provides the life giving oxygen that keeps the organism alive. In the absence of accurate and timely information, people begin to speculate on what might be happening. Without full and honest information, people spend more and more time guessing what's happening or holding back from taking initiative for fear of being reversed by the "new" manager. Time is increasingly spent wondering and holding back, and decreasingly spent getting things done. At a minimum, our Transition Management program cuts this time in half and aligns the team with the new manager quickly and effectively.
